For the retrospective, the Bank Austria Kunstforum Wien in a collaborative exhibition design created with the artist, set up rooms that are each dedicated to a specific theme such as participation, communism, body limits, energy from nature, or enlightenment. Exhibits on display there will include live performance. The pieces re-performed by the artist in the retrospective are Luminocity, Imponderablia, Nude with skeleton and Art must be beautiful.

Luminosity (1997)

A nude figure sits on a narrow bicycle seat mounted on the wall, enduring discomfort as light pulses around her. The work explores endurance, vulnerability, and the body’s capacity to radiate presence under strain.

Imponderablia (1977) with Ulay

Two nude bodies—the artists themselves—stand as the living pillars of the museum, forming a narrow passage visitors must cross. The work challenges intimacy,  and the viewer’s active role in the encounter.

Nude with Skeleton (2002-2005)

Abramović lies nude beneath a human skeleton, breathing until their movements align. The work reflects on mortality, corporeal memory, and the quiet coexistence of life and death.
